| Infrared microscopy has become the technique of choice for samples smaller than 100 microns (μm). When analyzing a sample infrared energy is targeted onto the visual image using an infrared mask, or aperture, which is adjusted to the dimensions of the desired sample. The aperture defines the spatial dimension of the spectra collected. The Reflex™ aperture in the Nicolet™ Continuμm™ FT-IR microscope uses a patented masking approach that provides Redundant Aperturing™ with a single motorized assembly. This technique optimizes the magnification when analyzing samples with small dimensions.
