WALTHAM, Mass. (April 11, 2005) -Thermo Electron Corporation has purchased NITON LLC, a leading provider of portable X-ray systems for metals, petrochemical and environmental markets.
Marijn E. Dekkers, president and chief executive officer of Thermo, said, “The addition of NITON is a continuation of our efforts to better serve the emerging needs of our customers. NITON helps Thermo bring a traditional laboratory-based analytical technique to settings outside the laboratory.”
NITON EDXRF offers rapid, high performance, non-destructive testing for a range of applications including:
- Identification and analysis of metal and precious metal alloys
- Determination of toxic metals in plastics and environmental samples
- Lead paint screening and risk assessment
- Mineral exploration and mining
- Coatings/plating analysis
The NITON product line brings state-of-the-art technology in handheld energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) which complements Thermo’s benchtop EDXRF system. It is also the natural extension of the lab-based wavelength dispersive XRF solutions also available from Thermo.
