1.9 µm Hypersil™ GOLD HPLC Column for Accurate Detection and Quantification of Lower Concentrations of Analytes Introduced

  Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry

ORLANDO, Florida (March 3, 2005) – Thermo Electron Corporation announces the launch of a new 1.9 µm particle size Hypersil GOLD HPLC column, in addition to the 3, 5 and 8 µm columns already available. The smaller particle size allows higher efficiency and improved peak capacity, enabling accurate detection and quantification of lower concentrations of analytes. The new 1.9 µm Hypersil GOLD HPLC column will be exhibited at the Thermo Electron booth #2917 at PITTCON 2005, Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida, February 27-March 4.

The 1.9 µm particles are a new technology aimed at enhancing the efficiency of separation and can be effectively used in high throughput laboratories or in ultra high pressure LC. The 1.9 µm Hypersil GOLD column is ideal for improving the throughput of laboratories while providing excellent peak shapes for basic analytes and is primarily targeted to the pharmaceutical, proteomics and biotechnology industries.

The Hypersil GOLD columns have gained recognition as HPLC and LC/MS columns offering outstanding peak shape. Based on highly pure silica, the Hypersil GOLD columns provide symmetrical peaks, even when analyzing basic compounds that give poor peak shape on traditional C18 columns. Rugged and robust manufacturing processes coupled with advanced bonding technologies produce highly efficient, reliable Hypersil GOLD columns for applications where resolution between compounds closely related in structure is important.

The 1.9 µm Hypersil GOLD columns are available in both unique and conventional formats, including standard analytical columns and Javelin direct-connection columns. Dimensions available are those optimized for high throughput analysis, including 20, 30 and 50 mm length and 2.1 to 4.6mm ID, as well as 10 and 20 mm Javelin columns. Dimensions for ultra high pressure LC are also available by request in longer lengths and capillary dimensions.
